When Will Tramadol Be a Scheduled Drug Throughout the United States?

Question by Savannah: When will tramadol be a scheduled drug throughout the United States?
I am a recovering addict to Tramadol. I have battled the insidiousness of addiction to this drug for the past 5 years. As of January 1st this year,Tramadol became a scheduled drug in my state alone. There are 14 other states, I have been told, in which Tramodol has been scheduled. I was wondering when the rest of the country will get on board with scheduling this drug and realize the absolute potential to addiction this drug poses and the danger involved with prescribing this drug?

Answer by Digital Morphine
I’ve been on it for 4 years and never exceeded my 400 milligram daily recommended dose, but if I don’t take it for over 12 hours I feel like death. I think this drug is Worse then traditional opiates and opioids and is always passed out like candy by doctors who tell you it has a low potential for addiction. I don’t know when it’s gonna become scheduled nation-wide, but I know in Mississippi it is controlled and they are being a little more cautious about dispensing tramadol so freely. I have a love-hate relationship with tramadol. I kind of don’t want it to become scheduled because it does help my pain and I don’t want to have problems getting my needed prescription, but at the same time, I see a lot of people thinking that it’s non-narcotic and taking way more then the recommended dose and getting wildly addicted. I haven’t really answered your question, but if you Google “DEA tramadol’ and check out some links, it will show you exactly what each state has decided or is in the process of deciding in regards to this sneaky little pill.
