He Failed a Drug Test…. Is His Story True or Is He Lying?

Question by Kay: He failed a drug test…. is his story true or is he lying?
My brother got out of rehab 2 days ago. He came to my house last night, but before that we don’t know what he was up to for the 2 days.
He has been sober from opiates and thc (his addictions) since september 19th. He has been off withdrawal meds (aka “bupes”) since the 25th.
He was given a at home drug test on october 11th, which he failed for thc, cocaine, and opiates.
He swears he didn’t do any drugs between the time he got out of rehab and the time he got to my house.

Are home drug tests reliable?
Could it be possible the drugs just haven’t left his system yet?
Should we test again?
Or do you think he used drugs?

DONT GET A WALGREENS DRUG TEST! They don’t work. I got caught for thc day after I got drug tested and I passed. So Get one from a pediatric and doctor.

The reliability of the home kits varies, but if you use one that is FDA approved, and use it by the directions, they are usually pretty accurate. The fact he is unaccounted for for the past 2 days, and a new release from rehab makes the story of no drugs kind of fishy. However, it also depends on when his last toke was, because THC can be detected for some time in the ua tests. There really isn’t a good explanation for the cocaine or opiates, though- those usually clear the system fairly quickly. I hate to say this, but I think he’s not quite as clean as you would like. What you do next, that’s kind of up to you and the family.
